:: WatW :: it’s CARNIVAL time!

Untitled-3 DSC_0088 DSC_0103

Zoe was waiting for carnival since i don’t know when! Her daddy bought a dress of Snow White and she was just thrilled to wear it!! Alma was dressed as a little duck, but she enjoyed more confetti than being dressed… We went to a little party and the girls had a lot of fun! Next weekend we will have another party with Zoe’s kindergarten and I was considering about show them the worldwide famous Carnival of Venice or the littler but charming one of Cento the week after…

I know… I wasn’t supposed to post pictures of my daughters every week but the first one is an epic moment and second one… well… too beautiful not to post! zoe tiare’s first haircut and Alma, playing hide and seek with Lucio.

:: lo so… non dovrei postare foto delle mie bimbe ogni settimana… ma la prima rappresenta un momento epico e la seconda… beh…era troppo bella per non postarla! Primo taglio di capelli per Zoe Tiare e Alma che gioca a nascondino con Lucio.

:: WatW :: homemade MUFFINS.

DSC_0129 copy

last weekend I decided that it was time to cook again… Well, I cook something every evening for the family, but I was looking for something more… elaborated than pasta or hamburgers. I love baking cakes and muffins, mainly because I’m always craving for something sweet. I wish I had had more time but, as always, I start working at the very last hour! I found these super easy and super quick muffins. They are made with whole wheat flour (125 gr),  pastry flour (100 gr), brown sugar (60 gr), baking powder (8 gr) and a pinch of salt. Mix everything together and, in another bowl, add an egg, seed oil (50 gr), and skimmed milk (250 ml). Mix the two in the same bowl. I have add some red fruits ( blueberries, raspberries…) and chocolate on the top. Bake for 25 min at 180°C.

INSPIRED by the WEB : ANIMATION.

I decided to inaugurate a new series of post based on what I found browsing the web (thank you feedly!).
The first one is this video from Ajinomoto General Foods called "Latte Motion".  Maybe you don't know it, but as most of the Italians I L-O-V-E coffee and anything coffe related (cappuccino, caffe latte...) Could I miss a video with 1,000 cups of coffee?! Every cup has a unique design and they all tell a story… You really need to see this!

:: WatW :: WHAT are you READING?

DSC_0182

I am one of those people that need to have a book beside the bed. Not one, actually, but two, three… five… I don’t know why but I’ve always read more than one book at the same time. Right now, on my night table I have:

W. Dyer: ‘Your Erroneous Zones’ : a friend of mine, a psychotherapist talked to me about this book and I’m really looking forward to start reading it (soon, let’s hope!)

F. Scott Fitzgerald: ‘This side of Paradise’: I have started this book last summer, during my “the great gatsby” period. I’m still in the beginning (Amory has just arrived to Princeton) and I like it, but somehow I find it difficult to keep on.

T. Wolfe: ‘The Bonfire of the Vanities’: I bought this book last time I have been to NY. I was in the mood to read books set in the Big Apple so I bought ‘The NY trilogy’ and this one. I don’t think that it is the right book to be read in such a long period of time: every time I have to begin one or two pages before to understand where I was! But I’m using it to train my english… and I still don’t have an opinion about it (I have to admit that I was about to see the movie to understand more the story… But one of my key point is ‘the book first, then the movie’)

Kinfolk : no explanation here. That is n. 8, about Japan, and I. Love. It. I love everything, but the pictures… they are the best!

Diane Arbus : that’s a monograph, Giulio’s Christmas present. She was so talented…

Reading was MY hobby.. I used to  love spending the evening (and the night) with a book… and I am wondering when I will be able to do it again! But I want to try to read at least a couple of pages every night…

WHAT ABOUT YOU? WHAT ARE YOU READING RIGHT NOW? ! (and by the way one of our friend, Jade Keller,  just wrote a book… check it here!)

"A portrait, every week, in 2015"

I met this guy 15 years ago (!) and we fell in love shortly after. We’ve been around the world togheter more than one year (adding up all our trips) , we’ve eaten at least in twenty different countries,  we’ve had two daughters and a cat. He is my partner in crime, my crazy (can you see it from the picture?!) and creative husband. And I love him.

Untitled-1

a portrait, every week, in 2015

Let’s begin with me. It’s not easy to stay in front of the camera… I used to do that. And I used to loved that! More than one year taking pictures of everybody except me makes me… shy. But that’s another thing that I want to change! I can set the camera, choose the light, wear a smile and be part of the game!

But, JUST TO BE CLEAR, there will be portraits of my daughters as well, from time to time… Let’s say… once a month… Just because I can’t think of anything more beautiful to photograph!

:: WatW :: WELCOME 2015!

I took this picture in Japan, in a place called Fushimi Inari, during our worldwide trip back in 2010. I loved Japan and the prove is that my second daughter’s name is Aiko. It’s not a “great” picture, I have to admit, but represent where I am right now: in the middle of a crossroads. I thought a lot about my first post of this 2015 and, as you can see, it took me long time to finally chose what to post! I thought about why I’m blogging, about what I love to blog, what it means to me… I’m taking some time for thinking about me, for developing a project that I really care of… The answer of all my question are all travel & people related. So I’m starting back from here, from my biggest passion: travel.

I’m going to continue with the 52 project but instead of posting one of my daughters portrait per week, i will focus on taking portraits to different people, even strangers if I will have the chance.
 We’re going to USA to visit my brother-in-law and his family in may and I’m thrilled about it! We’re also planning other trips to show you the best of the place where I live… So stay tuned!
 I’m also trying to convince Giulio, my creative and eccentric husband, to write here with me about interior design and other inspiring things… let’s see!

Restate in ascolto!

 I will post my first portrait of the year later this afternoon…
