WEDNESDAY around the WORLD: ICE CREAM.

i planned this post few weeks ago, but it seems quite strange now… outside it’s raining since i don’t know when… it’s cold… it’s grey… it seems autumn, definetely not the middle of a glorious summer! i decided to keep this post anyway because, i have to admit, ice cream is not a summer thing in my house! we love ice cream all-year-long! along the years i’ve changed my favorite tastes and i’m seeing the same process in zoe tiare’s taste (alma aiko still eats everything without complaining!)

ho programmato questo post qualche tempo fa, ma adesso suona strano… fuori piove da non so quanto, fa freddino, è grigio… sembra più autunno che estate piena! ho deciso di tenere il post comunque perchè, devo ammetterlo, il gelato non è qualcosa di prettamente estivo a casa mia! lo amiamo tutto il tempo dell’anno! negli anni ho cambiato i miei gusti e adesso sto vedendo lo stesso processo nei gusti di zoe tiare (alma aiko è ancora nella fase in cui mangia tutto senza protestare!)

WEDNESDAY around the WORLD: our FIRST PICNIC.

 
and finally we had our picnic! the weather here has been quite strange lately and not summer-ish at all… we had planned a picnic with our friends a while ago, but then the kids were ill, then it rained… today was supposed to be a bad day, with a lot of cold, sad, rain. well, the sun was shining, it was incredibly warm and we had a beautiful, funny day! everyone cooked something and everything was sooooo delicious! and incredibly healthy! we all believe in homemade and local food and these girls are amazing cook! i can’t wait to have all the recipes and try to recreate these vegetarian dishes (the hummus was delicious - alma ate so much!)

e finalmente siamo riusciti a fare il nostro picnic! il tempo è stato piuttosto strano ultimamente e non estivo per niente... avevamo programmato un picnic con alcuni amici un po' di tempo fa, poi le bimbe si sono ammalate, poi è piovuto... oggi doveva essere una brutta giornata, fredda e piovosa. beh, il sole splendeva, è stato incredibilmente caldo e noi ci siamo goduti una bellissima, divertente giornata! ognuno di noi ha cucinato qualcosa e tutto era veramente delizioso! e sano! tutte noi crediamo nel "fatto in casa" e nell'uso di prodotti locali e queste ragazze sono veramente delle cuoche straordinarie! non vedo l'ora di avere tutte le ricette e provare a ricreare questi piatti vegetariani (l'hummus era delizioso - alma ne ha mangiato un sacco!!)

A KLEZMER ORCHESTRA.

 

i had already seen a goran bregovic performance, long time ago, and i fell in love with this kind of music! i love the rhythm, the power, the happiness of the klezmer music… these pictures are from the last weekend, when we attended a special festival about green economy, reuse and recycle… every evening there was a concert and a yummy buffet!

avevo già visto un concerto di goran bregovic, tanto tempo fa, e mi sono innamorata di questo tipo di musica! mi piace il ritmo, la forza, la gioia della musica klezmer. queste foto sono state scattate lo scorso weekend, quando abbiamo assistito ad un festival particolare su green economy, riuso e riciclo.. ogni sera c’era un concerto e un delizioso buffet!

CRAZY RUN.

last weekend, for the first time, i saw a very “crazy run”, a non-competitive run along my city, with splashes of colours on the way! unfortunately i was able to see just two stops (the green one and the red one) but for the next year i will definitely run! 

lo scorso weekend, per la prima volta, ho assistito alla "crazy run", una corsa non competitiva intorno alla mia città, con "tocchi" di colore lungo la strada! sfortunatamente sono stata in grado di vedere solo due postazioni-colore (il verde e il rosso) ma il prossimo anno voglio assolutamente partecipare!

WEDNESDAY around the WORLD: MY FIRST CHERRY MARMALADE.

my dad has a wonderful garden, half orchard and half vegetable garden. cherries this year were incredible and so so many!! so this time i decided to cook a marmalade. my very first one. and you know what? it’s so easy that i’m already thinking of an apricot one!

mio papà ha un giardino incredibile, metà orto e metà frutteto. quest’anno le ciliegie sono state incredibili e tantissime!! così questa volta ho deciso di cucinare una marmellata. la mia prima vera marmellata. e sai cosa? è così facile che sto già pensando di farne una di albicocche!!

sono pronta per un nuovo giorno!

 

1 kg of fruit (cherries, apricots, peaches…)

300 gr of cane sugar

1 squeezed lemon

add the fruit cut in pieces with sugar and lemon and let it cooking gently, without stirring. after 40-45 minutes mix strongly and check if it’s ready by putting a teaspoon of marmelade in a dish and let cool. if it’s too liquid, boil it a little bit more.

1 kg di frutta (ciliegie, albicocche, pesche..)

300gr di zucchero di canna

1 limone spremuto

unire la frutta tagliata a pezzi con zucchero e limone e lascia cuocere lentamente senza mescolare. dopo 40-45 minuti mescola vigorosamente e controlla se è pronta mettendo un cucchiaino di marmellata su un piattino e lasciando raffreddare. se è troppo liquida, bollire un altro po’.
