VENEZIA.

   

i have been to venice many times. but this was the first one as a parent. and it all seemed different. we’ve seen the venice of “mom, look.. a boat!” and the venice of pigeons. the venice of “can we have another ice cream?” and “let’s play hide and seek on every calle’s corner”. it was all slow. and noisy. and sometimes hard (all that bridges with the stroller…) but so nice. the weather was perfect and we managed to see the salgado’s exibition at casa dei tre oci (beautiful!) so i’m satisfied. we even did a classical bacari tour (a very typical activity in venice: have apéritif with different tartins).

sono stata a venezia molte volte ma questa era la prima come genitore. ed è stato tutto diverso. abbiamo visto la venezia di “mamma, guarda, una barca!” e la venezia de “possiamo avere un altro gelato?” e “giochiamo a nascondino in ogni singolo angolo delle calli”. è stato tutto lento. e rumoroso. e a volte difficile (tutti quei ponti col passeggino…) ma stupendo! il tempo era perfetto e siamo anche riusciti a vedere la mostra di serrano alla casa dei tre oci quindi mi ritendo soddisfatta. abbiamo persino fatto il classico giro dei bacari (attività veneziana tipica: bere l’aperitivo accompagnato da tartine).

kids are amazing! they force you to slow down and see the beauty everywhere. it doesn’t matter if you are in venice, milan or in your backyard: a bird is always interesting and a slide needs a ride! and they meet new friends so easily! even on a 5 minutes vaporetto’s ride!

i bimbi sono entusiasmanti! ti costringono a rallentare e a vedere la bellezza ovunque. non importa se sei a venezia, milano o nel cortile di casa: un uccellino è sempre interessante e uno scivolo necessita di una discesa! e fanno amicizia così velocemente!

tips for parents that want to see venice: with two still little kids we brought a stroller and a manduca (alma slept almost all day in the manduca and the stroller was all for zoe); many museums organize children friendly activities from kids from four years (mine are still too young but i’ll keep that in mind for the future!); the area around punta della dogana has footbridges (i don’t know how long they will last and if there are others around venice..)

suggerimenti per i genitori che vogliono vedere venezia: con due bimbi ancora piccoli noi ci siamo portati un passeggino e un manduca (alma ha dormito gran parte della giornata nel manduca ed il passeggino era tutto per zoe); molti musei organizzano attività per bimbi dai quattro anni (i miei sono ancora troppo piccoli ma lo terrò presente); l’area intorno a punta della dogana ha delle pedane (non so per quanto dureranno o se ce ne sono altre in giro per venezia..)
